Question on IT Credentials

Thread Starter
Hi Everyone,

I have a good knowledge of hardware installations and troubleshooting, windows and software in general. I don't know how to program. But I'm competent enough that I do the IT support at the small office I work at as part of my job as a project manager.

That said, I'm looking at getting some formal credentials in this area. And I'm not sure where the best place to start is! I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration but no formal computer training.. I'm looking at A+ Certification as a base foundation upon which to build...Basically I want to make computers into a full time gig of mine but not sure where the best opportunities lie and the best educational route.

Appreciate any feedback!

Where do you want to go?

Windows Administration, Linux Administration, Cisco and LAN/WAN configuring, etc..

A+ isn't really that well regarded, and is only useful for entry level work at Best Buy/computer repair shops.

The Microsoft certifications are a good bet, since it is highly doubtful anything will come close to replacing AD/Exchange.
