Help A Newbie On Overclocking

Thread Starter
Hi Guys

First off my Build
Motherboard - Z68X-UD3R-B3
CPU - I5 2500K along with CoolerMasters 212 hyper+
GPU - GTX560 ( Non Ti )
PSU - CoolerMaster Extreme 650 Watt
RAM - G.Skill.Ripjaw 1333
Case - Antec 900
HDD - WD Green Caviar 500 GB

Problem
i managed to get a stable overclock at 4.3 Ghz at 1.36 vcore ( I knoe its high but it wouldnt stablize enything under 1.36 vcore ) using 10 runs of IntelBurnTest on extreme and 10 hours on prime, thought it was abit easy so tried pushing it another 200mhz, most stabilize ive got it at 4.5 ghz was on 1.38 vcore, passes 7/10 runs on intel burn test, ive increased vcore to 3.9 only to have it pass less runs (3/10). so im kinda stuck hoping to get some help?

Temperatures
temp wise there seems to be no problem, the 212+ seems to be able to hold 4.5ghz on no more then 60C, using CoreTemp and roughly same for HWMonitor

Other Settings in BIOS ive changed
Disabled Turbo
Enabled C1E
Enable C3/C6
Enable Thermal Monitor
Enable CPU EIST Function
Level 4 on the Multi Step Load Line

^ If you haven't seen this one already, it's one of the most beginner-friendly sandy bridge guides out there. The author uses a P8P67 series board, but (correct me if I'm wrong) there shouldn't be much difference in the settings you use.

And here's a Gigabyte guide that seems pretty thorough: http://www.scribd.com/doc/46598840/G...clocking-Guide

Your temps seem great, but yeah, your voltage does seem high. You might be able to get stable at lower voltages by decreasing your PLL voltage to 1.7v or so, since some folks in the Sandy Stable club have had success with that.

Anyway, hope some of that's helpful, and good luck!

EDIT: Oh and also, you can add your rig to your signature by going up to "User CP" and then clicking "Edit System" in the sidebar to the left. It'll make it more convenient when people try and help you
