derp, oil companies have a lot to gain by researching alternatives. It's certainly a lot more likely than breaking, you know, one of the fundamental laws of physics.

You don't think oil companies want to get in early and try to get a 100% claim to some other form of energy? It's not like pharm where you find a cure to a disease/illness and it removes your company from any sort of income-generation because of it. We'll always need energy, and I imagine that whatever the next "alternative" energy is, it will be controlled (for lack of a better term) in the same way oil is by the major oil companies (perhaps even by the same oil companies), regardless of how easy/simple it may (or may not be) to produce said alternative energy.

You can't make a containment strong enough to survive an impact like that that wouldn't make the car too heavy to be practical. So now you have several grams of an alpha emitter floating about in the air, getting into the lungs of passers-by and emergency personnel. Alpha particles are worse than other types of ionizing radiation, because they can ionize multiple atoms before their valence shell is full, which means you have two or three times as many free radicals and hydroxyls floating about interacting with your proteins and DNA.

One exposure might not be enough to have permanent results. Two or three exposures could cause throat, lung, or oesophageal cancer. Dozens of exposures (as in emergency responders) could cause multiple systemic cancers.

Radiation isn't something you dick around with lightly.
A black box esque case would suffice

So you're a conspiracy theorist on pretty much everything? You shouldn't call people gullible unless you're prepared with some kind of evidence to back it up.

The evidence is there, people just aren't willing to go look for it. There were 100+ mpg working prototype's in the 70's. The man who built them, after refusing to sell out, was soon found dead in the desert (with his cars conveniently gone missing simultaneously). This is only 1 case of several. You can call that 'conspiracy theory' if you want, but it's 100% verifiable fact.

Yes, they are interested in alternative fuels, and will roll them out as soon as they're done making all there is to be made on oil. It's basic business strategy, the first stage simply isn't finished yet.

As long as my V8 sounds the same, I don't care what powers it.

Kindof reminds me how they had to add a sound to electric cars because they were to quiet, hence unsafe, noone could hear one behind them.

Please don't subject yourself of the anguish of trying to interpret this gibberish! He alternately describes this as not a fission reaction (although he doesn't appear know to what fission is, describing it as 232Th --> 233U...), but claims energy densities which strictly apply to fission reactions only. Claims thorium "molecules" [sic] give off heat when they become "dense". Claims there is lasing involved somewhere.

The scammer has incorporated himself as "Laser Power Systems, LLC." His previous startup, "Helyxzion, LLC", was in genomics.

By your logic, people should have been dying off left and right after participating in this over the many years it has been going on. People build super-efficient cars ALL THE TIME.

Take your tinfoil hat off.

Go google Tom Ogle and look for yourself, I'm not your babysitter.

It's funny though, people always insist these things are mere 'urban myth' or 'conspiracies'. Where this happened is where I'm from. I've seen the original newspaper articles, spoken to people who rode in the car, people who knew him personally, and the building where he worked as a mechanic and built the car.

Cry tinfoil hat all you want, it happened, it's fact, it's verifiable dozens of times over. If you want 'proof' go get it, no one is going to spoon feed you.

The bottom line is 100+ mpg tech. has existed for 1/2 a century.

Nice try concluding that all those competitors should be dead, though you conveniently ignored the last paragraph in my previous post. I'm not saying they're not interested in alternative tech. I'm saying the speed at which these things get rolled out to the market is directly proportional to what the market will bear for fuel pricing....it's just business.

Also, I'd be willing to bet the 'prize' for any of those people making a significant breakthrough very likely involves selling the patent to shell for a nice big number.
