PC Building - Hobby or Obsession? - Page 3

A hobby since I'm broke. Although I am somewhat obsessive about trying to get all of it for free...

Niether, for me anymore. I just have got to the point where I dread taking apart my rig, and putting it back together.
I'm just very tired of it all.

Don't get me wrong either, I love my computer, but this will be my last build.

Right now for me, it's a tool that I use.

Both, my sig rig performs perfectly fine for the time, yet I just built a $1200 mATX build. Yes I have a reason for building it, but I had a major itch for some part picking and hands on building. I didn't even let my friend know I was putting it together cause it would have come together too quickly.

My room mate is giving me a budget so I get to build him a nice computer soon Made me very happy to hear

I remember I built my first rig last year with no intent other than saving money (building a gaming pc instead of buying one). It did everything I needed it to, but then came the upgrades...even though my computer really didn't need any, I wanted to keep improving it. $1500 later I ended up with the monster I have now (well, monster compared to my old rig and other common computers, I'm sure its not half as amazing as some of the other rigs on this site) .

Its a hobby for sure, but obsession? Maybe its getting there... just don't tell anyone

I love how there are so many parts of a pc. And each part has its on variations. Ex. gpu-->ati/nvidia

I wouldnt call it an obsession. I like it a lot, but if i had a choice between playing on my computer or going on a bike ride with my friend id pick the ride, tthen after wed come back to my place and play games/work on comps. Upgrading is fun but its expensive when youre unemplyoed.

Borderline obsession . I spent the better part of 40 hours at work researching all the parts for my new build (in sig!). It definitely consumed me for a while. I blame it on not being in the loop for the past 4 years since I last built a computer, as I had to do catch up.
