cheapest phase 4+1 motherboard

Thread Starter
u see guys i m building my first amd rig and i m going for a amd phenom II 955 BE 125 watt c3 version and to power it i need a good motherboard with at least 4+1 phase motherboard can u guys suggest me some pls and i live in India if u guys can suggest me motherboard available here thanx in advance
post #2 of 24
I as most people here do not suggest a 4+1 phase motherboard for a 125W chip because that is a fire waiting to happen, But if you are going to get a 4+1 phase motherboard regardless avoid MSI motherboards, because that is where most of these issues seem to come from in the 4+1 phase motherboards.

I would not suggest overclocking with that board.

You may want to give these two articles a read in explaining what I am talking about:

Yes, you should be able to get there, but you should try to look for a better board with 8 phases if you plan to overclock 24/7 4+ Ghz

I have this:

It's not great by anymeans, but I've been running at 4.0GHz for about 8 months now.

Yeah, I know lots of people OC with 4+1 that high. I also run a 4+1, but only to 3.6 24/7. It can be done, and last, but it would be advisable to go with a better quality VRM setup.

thanx Bobicon that articular was very helpful and m think of going with a
Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P
MSI 785G-E65
MSI 785GM-E65
MSI 785G-E51
which of these do u recommend

trying to get a GA-M68MT-S2P rev 3.1 with am3+ socket
post #10 of 24
Asus M4N68T-M LE V2 is a 4 phase on AM2 design and won't do it reliably. You will lose performance at full load due to CPU throttling due to VRMs overloading.
You need to get a QUALITY 4+1 design with PROPER COOLING if you intend to overclock to 4Ghz.

Definitely don't go with either of these. The VRM quality on low end MSI boards is rather mediocre really, they are not ready for overclock with high TDP chips at all and have no protection from failure.

The GA-M68MT board has a lower quality 4+1 phase than most others due to regular 3 transistor design, however it now uses the same higher quality transistors as most other modern Gigabyte boards. It should hold up fine at stock.
