my HD TV dead? revving whine from power supply

Just woke up from a 2 hour nap to find my HDTV acting as second moniter wouldnt wake from sleep mode... so i thought. It wont even change input, only way i know its alive is the blue power light that dims out after the whine is done revving works. Its 2 revving whines then it quits out coming from the power supply. The tv is a 2 year old element flx18511b. Already opened it up and didnt see any blown capacitors. Anyone else experience this revving whine and have it resolved?

I work for a guy who fixes TV's for 20+ years now, and power supplies are the most common thing to go on these things.

You can try contacting the manufacturer of your TV, sometimes they have a procedure to give the TV a hard reset that involves more than just unplugging it for 30 minutes.

Worst case scenario you will have to replace the power supply, if they make that part still, or replace it with an equivalent one and find a way to make it fit.

thanks for reply, i dont have any of the paper work, id rather replace it before putting money into this old one anyway. never realized how crippling it is with 1 monitor till now though. guess ill be opening it up one more time and trying to isolate the whine noise better.
