Replacement advice wanted

Thread Starter
On a Northgate 102, how to replace the (big L-shaped) return key with supplementary spring? If the spring is positioned first, the keytop post cannot reach the switch socket. If the post is positioned first, there is no room to place the spring (either place the spring wire into its plastic holders, or push the plastic holders into their slots.) Is this a repair shop trade secret?

I do computer repair and I have when it comes to replacing keys on a keyboard, it just depends. Sometimes they will snap back on easily, other times you cant get them back on at all.

Key pulling guide here. Although the guide is for Cherry MX the Northgate should have Filco style stabilizers.
