[ENG] Samsung plans August 29th mobile launch... Galaxy S II finally landing in US?

Update: We noticed that the invite image itself is named "Galaxy_S_II_Invite_v2.jpg," so we're gonna go out on a limb here and say that the S II will definitely be released.
Samsung's really gotta work on putting these on the shelves sooner. I was all hot and bothered about the GSII when I first heard about it, but now I don't really care anymore. And with rumors of the Nexus Prime due in October, I'd rather wait for that instead.

Agreed, I was all hot and bothered to get the SGSII myself at first, but a few months later now and I'm saying to myself, "Is there really any reason not to keep the phone I have?"

There will always be something better around the corner honestly. I'd just buy what i like then sell it when the newer stuffs are out. You would end up waiting forever. Maybe when the Nexus Prime is out, there's the new Samsung GSIII around the corner again . I was telling myself that i'd wait for the Asus Transformer II with Ka-el quad core this Fall, but then i went ahead and bought the current Transformer. I'm loving every minute using it atm and i can just sell it whenever the Transformer II comes out.

I tend to agree. While my phone is not 4g I still dont feel like I really need to upgrade.

I agree, I am pissed that this is taking this long... They sure are taking their sweet time and I read the reviews from all over the world and engadget...

The phone now is nice, but like everyone, we want something that won't be outdated right as soon as we get and this is exactly what this phone is...

iPhone 5 in Sept, Tegra 3, Galaxy 3...

Dude im in the same boat as u. I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) and I love it but was really excited when I saw the Galaxy S2...but that was months ago and it is taking waaaaaaay too long to get to the USA.Im thinking I might just save my money and use my current phone till it blows up.

Here is the problem with that. The SGII was released a long time ago. When it was released it was the best phone out and was going to stay that way for a long time. But instead of pushing it into the market Samsung decided to drag their feet with it and wait way to long to release it to the rest of us. Now their competitors are catching up and I find myself questioning if this is really the phone I want to use my upgrade on.

I don't even understand why they decided to drag their feet so long on this. If this is any indication of the release date for the SGIII then I would think we are safe in saying it isn't going to be out any time soon. Samsung is late on patches, release dates, and their gps is the slowest loading of all the android phones I tried.

I'm not going with HTC. But I will wait and what everyone else is bringing to the market.

It is still the top phone in the world though, in terms of speed/performance. Many months down the road, the Exynos processor is still kicking butt. Don't blame Samsung on taking so long to release in the US, blame the carriers who want to suck every dime out of every phone they release. Samsung is also great with updates and patches, once again it is the carriers who slow everything down.

True it seems like any who wanted an iphone would have already gotten one. I think the only feature on the new iphone is the I am a retard app. And this isnt something you couldn't get on 4 but it's now a bundled app.

Well, I for one am excited about this phone, but I suspect I won't be disappointed because I've never had a smartphone before, so pretty much anything will be an upgrade from what I have now.
