Need dual loop for 3xGPU + CPU? Also, best pump+res combo?

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I haven't yet figured out the criteria for when a dual loop is necessary to maintain low temps. I'm planning on cooling 3xGTX580s and CPU using either a 360 + 120 or 480 + 120 setup.

I'm trying to choose a res + pump combo, but not sure if I'll need to do two loops or not. This will affect my res purchase if I need a res that supports two pumps.

Any suggestions on bay res + single or dual pump combination? For a bay res I'm hoping to get as stealthy as possible.

hey there mate

2 loops will give you beter tamps if i was you i would go with 2 360
1 for cpu and 1 for the gpus than you will get some good tamps

i have 2 loops my myself

1. for 2 gtx 580s in sli on a RX360 thay idle at room tamp whant ever it is at the time
and at 100% thay get no more than 43c and thay are OC

2. for cpu ram and mobo on a RX360 my 980x idles at 32c and 68c at 100%
and that is whan it is oc to 4.5GHZ

just make sure you have a big case if you dont whant to have a rad out side of the case like mine i wish i got a bigger case

and here are some good res + pump

2 Loops will not give you better temps at all and has been proven many times on this forum. Not only that, but 2 loops is more expensive versus 1 loop where you will not need a second reservoir.

I DID get better temps 2 loops vs 1. No charts will tell me different. But I have way more radiator.

From what you are talking about rad wise. I'd do 1 loop with 480rad+next biggest rad you can fit.

Which means that your entire "conclusion" is negated and means nothing. The amount of radiator you have determines your temps...saying that you have 2 loops and better temps, but then stating that you have more rad than before is pointless.
If you have the same amount of radiator and the same number of pumps then you will get the same temps. If anything you would drop temps by having less tubing but that's negligible. Two loops is more expensive and ends up being an overall more difficult to set up.

So 4 360 rads CPU & 3 gpus 2 pumps. I split loops for better management 2 rads a piece and my temps are better. Got me, but they are.

Two loops IMO area waste. Better temps as far as what? I haven't seen a PC run 100% load on the CPU and GPU at the same time, UNLESS someone is run stability tests. In a single loop, the rads will take the load of either the GPUs and CPU when loaded. Individual loops have no benefits, since their is no added capacity when either chips are being used. If you have a CPU at 68C under load and GPUs at only 43C, you're showing you have too much radiator cooling for the GPUs and not enough for the CPU. In a single loop, the CPU would be cooler and the GPUs would take on a little more temp, but there is plenty of headroom for higher temp on the GPU loop without harming anything.

The 480 and 120 rads will work fine. You can run that off a single DDC or D5 pump. I use an XSPC Dual 5.25 bay res with DDC pump for my loop now.

Multiple loops are really not necessary. You can cool a number of blocks with one loop provided that you have Optimal Rad Area and Optimal Flow. Additionally, you will reach equilibrium regarding temps, which is why loop order does not matter.
