Make sure you have both power connections plugged into the mobo. I once forgot to plug in the power to the cpu on the MB and had a similar problem.

Great! Using another graphics card is a great way to sort out the problem

Just putting it out there: did you use motherboard stand offs? They're the little brass things that you mount the motherboard on.

I used about 6-8 of em. Cant remember exactly, it's for ATX. No magic smoke escaping as of yet but good question, if I can let a temp sensor get lodged near the CPU it's not outside the realm of possibility that I forgot something basic like that.

I got it booting AND got video! I had the wrong DVI port, I read the instructions and it told me to put the adapter on the DVI port with the fans which I did but i saw a video on youtube with the video on the other side. AND the good news is that it also booted into the OS. it deactivated my copy of windows but I am in! Thank you to everyone!!

Congrats on fixing your problems!Good luck with the build!
You may want to start reading up on my "About VRMs & MOSFETs" thread (link in sig) as there are some particular issues you may run into that board related to the VRMs at a later date, while using that processor.
