Kids these days, they've grown up with Windows XP and thinks a 5/6 year gap like that between XP and Vista is the norm, rather than the exception.

People its not about what you want, its about what the market demands. Right now the market demands more portable touch input computers.

If you truly think MS should not make window 8 or at least not as soon as they are planning, then you must want apple to continue to grow. Windows 8 is microsofts answer to tablets and phones.

And hell, the 360 emulator that comes with it is going to be a very nice feature. Dont forget about that. Consider the possibilities... you could have a blue tooth enabled tablet running 360 games with a wireless controller. That seems pretty good to me.

Wonder what it will bring? Took me long enough to jump from XP to 7 (because Vista doesn't count).

Since I highly doubt that Windows 8 will be able to emulate Xbox 360 games and play them over Xbox Live such as the rumors have been telling us.... I'll pass until it's crucial that I need a copy.

1) Windows 7 doesn't work well on tablets or phones. W8 will work well on tablets, and will even work on phones.
2) Just because you're not interested in using Windows on a tablet, doesn't mean that it's not an extremely important aspect in the development of the OS as a whole.
3) Just because YOU are satisfied with Windows in it's current state doesn't mean Microsoft must halt all development work.

What really gets to me is that this has been discussed at length, and now you barge in on page 5, after having (at best) only read the OP, and then feel the need to declare to the world that W8 is entirely unnecessary, because YOU are still happy with Windows 7.

Heck I was on a beta build a while after RTM was released because it was stable and worked like a charm.
I dont do auto updates, but when SP1 came out I got it.

w8 isnt needed for me, I just hope they dont drop w7 support too fast.

edit- reading above posts, im not against a new windows, eventually w7 will be outdated enough to upgrade from, but probably to something after w8.
