1) Windows 7 doesn't work well on tablets or phones. W8 will work well on tablets, and will even work on phones.
2) Just because you're not interested in using Windows on a tablet, doesn't mean that it's not an extremely important aspect in the development of the OS as a whole.
3) Just because YOU are satisfied with Windows in it's current state doesn't mean Microsoft must halt all development work.
What really gets to me is that this has been discussed at length, and now you barge in on page 5, after having (at best) only read the OP, and then feel the need to declare to the world that W8 is entirely unnecessary, because YOU are still happy with Windows 7.
Just because you are interested in using Windows on a tablet, doesn't mean I should get Windows 8 too. I'm most likely not going to get it because for me Windows 7 works well, and Windows OSes are expensive.
