Worth keeping the Gtx590? - Page 4

KEEP IT! It will be worth it in the future trust me, you will be able to play maxed out games for a couple of years with this.

It's the drivers that are letting down the 590 currently. Mine is overclocked to 700/1400 @ 0.950v and is delivering an average 70FPS on a modified Crysis Warhead at 1920x1080. It goes to show that they are powerful cards, but the support from NVIDIA has been abysmal at best. There have been days where I've wanted to throw it out the window, but there are also times when I'm in awe of the performance.

Ignore the people who are telling you there's no point having it or it's a waste/rubbish/not as good as a 6990. They're either jealous they don't have one or jealous that you have that kind of money to spend. Whatever their reason, they're ignoring the point of your post, and wasting everybodies time.

I couldn't give a toss what someone else thinks of my decision - I wanted a current powerful graphics card to play games on a 24" monitor with as much performance as possible. I'm not interested in playing games on three screens - in fact, I hate it. There's too much real estate for me to fully concentrate on and I feel that it hampers my gaming performance.

Your computer is what you want it to be because a rig is as individual as you are.

Regarding your original question (which admittedly, I got a little sidetracked on), it's entirely up to you what you want to do with the card. For a while I was extremely disappointed with my 590, and wished that I'd bought a 6990 instead. However, a lot of 6990 owners are having similar problems, it's just one of those things. Now that newer drivers are rolling out which actually aid it's performance rather than hinder it, and that we're learning more every day about unlocking it's potential through the hard work of users like RagingCain - I can safely say that the 590 is starting to make sense.

I would suggest installing driver version 280.19 (if you haven't already), mildly overclocking it and enjoying the performance. However solely for Crysis 2, the lastest 280 WHQL drivers are more suited. If you still can't get on with it, then by all means get rid and move on, after all, it's entirely up to you.

Personally, I am waiting to see what the new 6XX series of NVIDIA cards are like, and then I will decide if I want to keep my 590 or move on. I don't love it, and I don't hate it, it's just a piece of hardware. If I feel something else will suit my needs better - I'll buy it, regardless if it's AMD or NVIDIA, a good piece of hardware is a good piece of hardware. Doesn't matter who made it.

well you're talking about highest-end gpu so no it's not worth it. Two gtx 560's SLI will almost pwn a 590 and cost less than 400 at the same time.

No it can't. Metro 2033, The witcher 2, Crysis 2 maxed out(in firefights).
Yeah it will easily. I have a 570 and I easily max out all my games.

I have no idea. I started thinking about how much more badass having that for gaming then I read this guys post and that forced me to correct him. What are you going to do... Oh well I'd say it was well worth it for a 590.

+1 I see no point, although im not one to talk with a 5830 but im playing Witcher 2 on High at 45-50 fps. Looking to buy a 6970 or 580 but nor concerned about hitting 60 fps on every game.

Personally I think the display ur playing on makes a diff as well. My monitor looks good....but when i play on a 55" NX810 everything looks much much better with same settings.
