It runs a little slower, but it's not a deal breaker, people are too quick to assume that a 4x lane must run at a 1/4 of the speed of a 16x lane.

According to this thread:
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/8193...6x-4x-gtx.html

470s in SLI run about 2-6% slower in a 16x4x setup compared to a 16x16x setup.

I RMA'd (store credit) my EVGA GTX590 classified ($729 at the time) and exchanged it for 2 X 560Ti TFII...at 1680 X 1050 it's a better choice....

3Dmarks 11 PScore is pretty much the same with my 2 560TI's (8400 pts for 560ti's in SLI) and 8500 pscore for GTX590 classified..

8500 is fairly low - what's the spec of your rig? I'm on Tapatalk so can't see it.

If 16x16 can be done, why don't more Board makers make them like that instead of just 16x4?

Grab yourself the $99 pny gtx465 on newegg and unlock it to a 470 with a simple bios flash. Overclock it to 915mhz. Now enjoy stock gtx580 performance. That's what I did.

Buying dual-GPU for single monitor = pointless. But that's just my opinion.

That seems like a rather large blanket statement. Dual 460's are about equal to a 580 and that's nowhere near overkill for any single monitor, and is an absolute steal compared to the price of a 580. With my dual 480s I can't get over 60 frames in witcher 2 with everything on ultra. In a game like bc2 I get 120-140 frames on highest settings, but its good to have a buffer because they drop to ~80 during heavy explosions and randomness. I got these cards at a great price, at first I thought they might be overkill, but they are one of the best purchases I have ever made.
