Is my X6 1090T bottlenecking my HD6990?

Hello!

Some info about my rig first:

MB: ASUS Crosshair IV Formula, running 1902 BIOS.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition @ 4GHZ
Memory: Corsair Dominator DHX+ DDR3 1600MHz 4GB @ 1786Mhz
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6990 4GB GDDR5 @ Stock.
HDD: Crucial RealSSD C300 2,5" 128GB, running FW 007
Monitor: BenQ 27" LCD M2700HD
PSU: Corsair HX 850W PSU
Cooler: Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU Cooler

So, basicly Im running Crysis2 high res texture pack and DX11 Ultra at FullHD, and Im averging about 30,35 fps at big landscapes and such..
Using catalyst 11.8 with CAD2 profiles.

I feel it should be higher?

3dMark11 score was about 7700.

Any suggestions?

It shoulden't bottleneck it no, because both of the GPU's would be running in X8 mode, as they would be shareing the X16 Lane together.

Anyways, the CPU is the culprit for the low score, Try it in a friends i7 or i5 computer and compare? or wait out for Bulldozer?

The CPU will bottleneck the 6990 at that speed but you should still have better FPS.

depend of the res, 2-6 fps difference between your CPU and SB

look at this:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/crysis...e-benchmarks/6

at 1920x1080 or more it will not bottleneck

"the Intel boys" are proud of those powerfull 2-6 fps lol

Your FPS is a little bottlenecked and the 3dmark scores are always quite bottlenecked on an AMD with a high end card.

For FPS We're talkin 120fps on x6 instead of 130fps on a 2500k, At the end of the day it's not noticable.

As for 3DMarks, 2500k's will pull a much higher score with same card at same clock than a AMD x6.

That score is quite quite low though.. Here's my GTX 580 benches on 3dmark11 for comparison (I know apples and oranges) but we shouldn't be that close.

3dMark11: Full Test:
3.7Ghz, 915Mhz, 6385 (GPU 6597)
3.7Ghz, 932Mhz, 6382 (GPU 6577)

3dMark11: Professional Edition:
3.3Ghz, 954Mhz, 6338 (GPU 6760)
3.7Ghz, 954Mhz, 6480 (GPU 6749)
