Fan controller, fans etc.

Thread Starter
Heya guys, I have the NZXT M59 case with stock fans.

Going to add two 140mm fans on top and a 120mm front panel fan, I guess I'm going to want a fan controller as it'll be pretty noisy right?

I'm stuck with what to get though as cooling isn't an area i'm familiar with.

If I get a controller It'll have to handle between 3-4fans

Cheers guys, Mikey.

Edit*
Forgot to mention, I live in the UK so I'll only order from places such as Scan.co.uk, Novatech.co.uk, Overclockers etc.

I have this controllerand like it a good bit. Works well, high wattage per channel, and PWM capable (with buttons for manual/PWM toggle) I'm sure others can give you their opinions on this or others that may look better in your case also.

Thanks for that, my cpu hit 53c earlier running 1 runescape bot on minimal settings and minecraft on full in 1920x1200 on a 42" tv, graphics hit about 60.

Going to wait for a couple more replies before deciding

I use this fan controller . Infinite's sunbeam is one of the best and most reliable. I'd get the Sunbeam if you don't mind losing the display. Perhap's mine if you do want a display, or the Scythe but I know 12v fan's can blow it sometimes.

I have This controller, and I must say, one of the best controllers I've ever used.

Infact, I'd go as far as saying Lamptron is one of the better fan controllers out there.

What you linked to seemed amazing for the price Jags, unfortunately after doing some research I want one that will still let the motherboard control fanspeed.

I don't mind about all the fancy touchscreen / card readers etc. Litterally want my fans to be dynamic rather than being 100% or user / probe controlled.

I have this same exact controller in my M59 and am very pleased with it. I only added one 120mm fan (exhaust) to the top and one 120mm (intake) to the front and the controller does a tremendous job of keeping the nice and quiet. Never had any issues at all with the controller and have had it for over a year with daily use. Best of luck in your decision!

If you just want the motherboard to be able to control all the fans you can do it with a little bit of work...

- Buy PWM fans. Those will have the PWM speed/control wire on them (4 wires instead of 3 for normal fans).
- Make or buy a PWM Splitter so that you can wire all teh PWM lines on the fans to connect to the PWM pin on the motheboard's CPU Fan Header. Something like this: PWM Splitter
- Hook up all your fans to that splitter and set your BIOS to control the CPU Fan via PWM.
- Profit.
