Fan controller, fans etc. - Page 2

I think my mobo only has a single PWM header, wouldn't daisy chaining the splitters cause power issues?

I also need to know which fans to get, I need 2x 140mm for on top, and 1x 120mm for 'the front.
Might just use my current exhaust as intake and have no exhause though.

Behold the Beta Evo, brother of your M59. Greetings!

See that top intake fan? That's a TY-140. It's a PWM fan I have linked to the two PWM fans on my Mugen 2. I plug them into an Akasa 3-way PWM splitter (available here). Only one plug goes into the cpu fan header, and the mb controls all three.

If you want to control more, Akasa makes a 5-way pwm splitter.

BTW - you can't see the 140mm fan I have in my 5.25 bay, or the 120mm fan in the lower front; and since I took that picture I've put back the bottom intake fan - cut the hole for it myself. So, with the 140mm side panel intake fan (Scythe Kaze Maru 2; it has 120mm screw holes; highly recommended) I have five intake fans, one mid-case fan and no exhaust fans in this case. It's quite quiet. Only the sound of moving air - no blade noise.

So all I need to do is buy two TY-140 fans, put my current 120mm exhaust as front intake and replace my side fan with a Scythe Kaze Maru 2?

Plus the 5way splitter? Is that header sufficient to power all those fans? Or do they also need to be daisychained to a molex?

You guys neglected to read the part where Azarathal states that he'd like the motherboard to control the speed of the fans... So he's stuck with Sunbeam's Rheosmart (Only one I know of that has the feature of connecting to the motherboard for speed control), or he can rewire the fans like we've suggested.

Depending on what fans you get; the CPU Fan header should be able to power them all... Or you can always just use the PWM/RPM pins from the CPU Fan header and give power to the fans from a Molex output from the PSU; that way you won't be limited to low power fans.

I know it works, I run two (2) San Ace 9SG1212P1G01 on my heatsink at the moment... Those fans are 4 Amps each so plugging them to the motherboard would most likely melt the connection... So I simply plug the RPM wire from one fan to the header, split the PWM signal to both fans from the header and the power the fans straight from the PSU... Works like a charm, my fans run at 10% duty cycle 95% of the time and only go up to about 20% when the cpu is fully loaded.

Akasa 3-way PWM splitter. 5-way works the same: Power comes from Molex/PSU. Control comes from MB.
