Help me deal with some issues.

I have some issues with video games, Id like to know your input on.

I kinda dislike Iron sights in games like Cod4 and Bc2. I grew up on CS1.6 so that might explain alot. I see how they are absolutely necessarily with long range but medium range and close range if i dont scope, i dont get a headshots. My biggest concern with them is it narrows your view so you dont know what is going on around you. In cs you can pay attention to one place and suddenly do a 90 to 180 turn and hit another guy no problem.

Everyone raves here about engines. I dont get how an engine makes the game good besides particle effects which are awesome in bc2. But in my opinion i does nothing for accuracy or smoothness or snappiness. The hl1 engine in cs was good enough for me. I had no complainants a player can quickly double peek a corner, switch back and forth between guns quickly and the accuracy was awesome.

Most of my opinions are well summarized here:

Specifically how i feel about games with a plot. Back in the day when I was a console noob playing on the ps1, ps2 and gamecube, I would always skip past the story to get the gameplay. The story imo was very primitive and boring. Im sure alot has changed since then but I still feel stupid playing a game for the story. Last game i played with a story was mirror's edge and that was dull as hell and only saved by the gameplay which I deem more important than graphics and story. I figured out i think why i dont like story in games. Its because i dont have a say such as i am forced to do stuff like run a course or do a mission. Did i have a say in that mission? No, and in game where you fully control your storyline you are still limited by your setting like I dont wanna be a gangster in GTA. I have fun with no strings or plot involved.

Now im sure much of my bias comes from me playing cs1.6 too much to be precise 7 years with no other game along side it. I did buy cod4 when it came out and played that for a month but went back to cs right after that month since i got bored. I felt that cs was so much deeper. Now right now you might either be feeling confusion at my love for cs or disgust because you've heard this all before and its been shoved down your throat. Well lemme try to not bore you or annoy you and give you some reasons why I like cs so much. First, its the community ofc and im sure its that for all games. However in bc2, hardly anyone talks which confuses me because in cs you cant have a good team with out communication. Everyone in bc2 does their own thing which makes me feel lonely playing the game. I play multiplayer for the human interaction and raw team ownage. Second its the tactility of the game. Its kinda hard to explain but in bc2 when someone gays you its hard to do something about it on respawn especially since they might have a tank or a really good position. In cs no matter how they gayed there is a counter to that and the fun is figuring that out. You never feel totally powerless in the game due to the constant possibility of clutching in bc2 you rarely get that feeling that you will take out the entire team with your skill. Rather you have to rely on your team and vehicles. Im not saying relying on your team is bad but you have to be able to own without relying on positions or vehicles or your team.

P.S are people going to communicate more in bf3 than bc2?

I hate the CS engine. I does not emulate in real life a combat situation in the very least. Those other games you mentioned, at least make an attempt at that.

You see I dont see the goal/purpose of video games specifically fpses to emulate real life. In fact most of the top fpses arent anywhere close to real life ie cs, quake, and doom. Its very subjective because your judging on what to judge a video game on. I judge it on its gameplay and fun factor. Many other judge on graphics and seem to think that a more realistic game will be a better one. I see this a counter productive because video games for many are to escape real life. It reminds of a child judging art on which is more realistic. For face value that is valid but a video games are more than something to simulate real life imo at least.
