I don't have those rings around the text either. They both have a 2ms response rate. Acer has a 80,000:1 contrast ratio where Planar has a 1,000:1 contrast. They seem pretty identical in any other spec except the .6 extra inches of the Acer.

Sorry but its a known fact that this display has some input lag.

Here is are a couple of references about the oversharpening issues that blur text.

I found the Acer to be subpar compared to even a decent 60hz display.

Here is what Bloody from 3d vision blog has to say about the Acer GD235hz.

You may want to read a review on the Planar, they are no where near similar. You can't always trust manufactures specs. How a consumer based company like Acer might measure contrast might be quite a bit different than a professional oriented company like Planar. Also pixel response time does not have any effect on input lag, well not necessarily.

Its not that the games you are playing don't support 3d very well its that your monitor isn't the best in the world. Here are a few examples that I saw. To start I was playing Borderlands around the time that I upgraded my display. It normally played well until I went into Jacob's Cove. The first area anywhere near water or the sky showed a ton of crosstalk. It make the area unplayable. On the Planar all of that was gone. One other game was GTA4. For the most part it looked great in 3d but on the Acer certain areas had some really bad crosstalk. Once again that disappeared on the Planar. I saw that happen in quite a few other games as well.

One other thing that I had noticed was that the Acer was also very dark in 3d due to the glasses. That has not been an issue on the Planar. I'm assuming that may be less of an issue on other displays as well.
