Now thinking about it, here is what I use. I have 3 disks in my desktop 1 is my main disk (windows 7, files, etc) and it runs backups on my "raid 1" which is only comprised of two hds, my external backup drive (my back up of my backup) is an external drive which I just copy my backup files to. It rarely ever gets used so I am not worried about backing it up further, its more of an archive of backups. The next thing I can suggest is to separate your data for safe keeping, split your main windows drive into two partitions a windows and a data partition this is a really old method of doing it suggested by IBM I think....but nowadays hard drives are cheap so that method has kind of gone the way of the dinosaurs.....
