SSD or Hybrid?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I basically use my computer to play video games, browse internet, watch movies, and some office work.

Questions:

(1) Would you recommend going for the below linked Seagate Hybrid or a pure SSD?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148704

(2) If SSD, what SSD would you recommend for around $100? Mind you, I have SATA III available on my mobo.

Thanks guys!

I would say the SSD.
Unless you need the space.
I haven't regret buying my SSD at all.
Everything is super fast now.

I'm sure those who recommends the SSD would say go for this.

SSDs are very nice. The incredibly low seek time on them really makes everything feel instant.

so what's the point of the hybrid?
Hybrid drives make no sense for the desktop.

They are 4 times the dollar/space of a 3.5" 7200RPM HDD but provide only 4GB read-cache. While an SSD has a greater dollar/space cost, they also offer a magnitude (10-80 times) more performance in some cases.
Once again...

+1 for Crucial M4.

If you're looking at HDDs, ignore the hybrid drives. It's NAND slapped onto a slow laptop drive. For a desktop, you want something like a WD Black 1TB or Spinpoint F3 1TB. (or an SSD )

Yup, get a small capacity SSD and a big arse HDD...then do some linking of pics documents and vids to the HDD, and enjoy SSD speed for games and OS. Its really simple if cost is the issue

This, or just go with HDDs.
