[WCCF]AMD to Release 28nm chips in Q4 2011, GPU Samples Ready - Page 9

There's still no concrete information on the release date of Southern Islands cards. Q4 2011 could mean a release date of the cards as late as December 31, 2011, couldn't it?

Was going to get another HD 6950 but now i would rather wait. I hate to problems dual GPU bring.

Really hoping the 7790 is more like a 5770 than a 6790. The 6790 is a huge flop, way worse performance/watt than a 6850, has 2 6-pin connectors, etc etc. All I want is a 7790 with ~120W TDP, MSI Hawk(of course), ~8.5" or a bit shorter, and roughly 6870 performance.

Also, nobody is going to release anything in Q4 after ~December 20, there's way too much holiday spending they'd lose out on.

It could also mean at the beginning of Q4..... maybe this is what the hint in the AMD comic book about 'ember 19th' was really referring to...

ECC? I hope this doesn't turn out to be a bad move. I thought ECC was only necessary in server environments.

The 6000 series has ECC already... usually instead of artifacts when overclocking too high, you instead get a lower frame rate because the card is having to correct the errors you'd otherwise see as artifacting.
