Can you help a noob overclock his 2500K? - Page 3

Thread Starter
Ughh Can someone help me? I tried overclocking to 4GHz and now it wont load past the Bios screen. I tried resetting the settings but it wont work.

EDIT: I loaded into windows using the 2 Bios But I still don't know how to overclock right and those guides are confusing. Do you think I would be better off not overclocking until someone shows me how to do it in person?

Update your BIOS and be ready for alot of emotions to hit you............when you OC you go from HAPPY, to SAD to Mad to frustrated to acomplished............Begin by looking at your CPU safe range and then create your own safe settings. Personally i modestly accept a max Volt of 1.36 (the 45 NM had this safe zone and i don't think sandy is tougher at 32NM....again my safe opinion, many run at 1.42 24/7. Your unique chip can craft this. @ temps i dont like to pass 75 C.....Again this chip can technically go to 1.52 @ 90 C........But i like to be safe. Sandy is all multiplyer no BCLK really. And each chip/mobo combo is unique so you will find your own golden settings. And im guessing you got a aftermarket cooler. that intel cooler could barley run stock! Personally my safe benchmark pass is a 12 hour prime 95 blend test. IBT X 5 on maximum. And Running 3D mark after all these to see what my score is. Some run prime for 24 hours. iv seen errors in the 8 hour range. So 12 seems to be the stable. Running stable right now @ 1.325 (gonna need to work on getting that down) 4.4 GHZ........and my chip is pretty meh. nothin special.........1.310 was 8 hours stable.......i think 1.315 would work......again thats more testing. i am REALLY stable at 1.325 so i guess its alright and temps are decent. And off course normal usage for a week or so and see if its stable. Which its doing great.....it better at this voltage -.-
