But of course I usually kill people in one to a few shots, depending on the gun and distance.
Screw the pump can be one of the dirtiest guns in the game. It's HS ability at a distance is disgusting. In general it's pretty broken at times. I used to love rocking the pump action, still do if/when I play. LOL

Unfortunately facing down Battlefield 3, whoosh, that's gonna be a very tough come back indeed. I'd buy their game just because they brought me the first one, and I have enjoyed so many hours on counterstrike source that I was hard pressed to lay it down for BF2, seriously...

Unfortunately Counterstrike is stock full of hackers, and has been for a long time.

Most servers that use custom scripts are obvious because of lag, they are also obvious because they cheat, and their hacks are even more obvious.

I love watching someone jump 10 feet sideways in a fraction of a second and then skipping 10 feet the other way when I'm shooting at them, and of course they will deny the hacking claims, for obvious reasons, but we all know they are doing it.

I got shot the other day 300 yards away through a thick amount of trees (over 10) by a hand gun, and you know dang well they are hacking.

When they end the hacking FPS will be fun again, till then it's just another casual game to play for me, I love RPGs far too much to play FPS much.

In fact offline is far more enjoyable than online to me, but maybe that's just me... (I don't like dying every 3.5 seconds, sorry)
Use private servers or if you have to us a pub go for one that you know has admins. I can say COD has a bunch of hackers now too, on the PC. The best part is the color mods aren't VAC detected and help you a crap ton more in COD than CS:S. You know what a T is in counter strike, in COD it can be a little hard in certain maps. Put in colored skins and you can see freakin everybody, it's wicked. Yeah I hacked, I also hate COD and got banned. I didn't cry, I stoped playing.

It had improved graphics sure, but they do jack squat for a game that's pretty much unplayable.

And I have no idea why they're wasting their time on a console release. I doubt many people will buy this for the PC (I predict major boycotting groups starting already), let alone for the consoles which have dozens of way better shooters available already.
Every CS has sold well, and if you think you have to camp you never got good. Every gun on CS has a purpose and a style too it, learn them. I ended up playing GG a lot to beef up my weapon skills after playing for years. It really helps because you'll get some crap in GG, like stuck on pistols. Your forced to learn every gun and if you want to win you learn them well. Then you play regular CS (or CSS, whatever) and it changes how you see the maps. That and memorizing the maps works wonders. Oh, and always run with a knife, noobs don't.

Yup, realism takes away some of the fun IMO. I wouldn't mind aiming down the sights though. I liked that, though I do like how CS works. it's simple and clean, makes it a little more fun sometimes. Idk, both styles as far as aim goes are good so I won't be dissapointed.

Haha! I know, I actually like medics. I also like how MAG does health. You get 100 (125 with points put in) and a medic kit. There are two, one that only works on you and one that can work on you and buds (also revives a bleeder who is incapacitated). Yeah, you kind of rely on it but it's semi-real compared to COD. I like having a health bar, I also love the medic idea as a class. Oh why did COD not do that? Why!?

Sorry; that was a poorly written piece. I was actually combining common elements of "competitive" type games (or settings). Usually the games will be mip-mapped to hell (yes, cs too). Games like Quake and ET consist of bunnyhopping marathons (not cs). The main idea was just that common elements from competitive gameplay are frequently ridiculous and unnecessary in more "mainstream" games.

1.6 is not and never has been a twitch shooter. Infact, most players rely on a high DPI mouse with low sensitivity to ensure absolute accuracy. Obviously they are limited by their sponsors, hell, that's how Pro gamers make their money, I'm not gonna go into it, but you'll always see them using top of the line equipment, it's not just for show, it's a requirement.
I don't think you understand what twitch gaming is. It has nothing to do with DPI's and sensitivities. It has to do with gameplay style. MOST top players of Quake and UT, which are even twitchier than CS, use low sens. competitive CS is still twitchy, as opposed to say R6, which is largely a slow, deliberate tactical shooter.

Quote:
I'll just edge in that CS1.6 is the game people refer to as being 'crowned' for it's gun balance. AWPs play a massive role in competetive, about coordinating your team so that one person, or more specifically the best sniper on your team, has enough money for an AWP as soon as possible so they can start doing work and help to win the round. Of course, AK being the 1shot headshot gun that it was, could always stand a slight chance against the AWP if you were a skilled player.
What about CS's gun lineup is not unbalanced? Saying that the AWP is an integral part of the game is simply stating the obvious, as it's the most powerful weapon. It's like saying the CG is ubiquitous in BC2. Of course it is. That doesn't make it balanced. The simple fact that only the AWP and deagle (and to a lesser degree) the AK and M4 are viable means that the weapon lineup is sadly unbalanced. Diversity makes for interesting gameplay.

Generally when you're not aiming down the sights, it's referred to as hip-firing, when you lower the gun below head height and just fire away.
Uh, what? It doesn't matter what you call it, the truth is that top notch shooters clear the room while NOT aiming down the sights, WHILE MOVING. In CS, you can't hit crap unless standing stock still. Or have a lot of luck.

haha it's fairly obvious to me that like 3-5 of you have played 5v5 cal/cevo style cs. cs is not an ordinary shooter! it's meant to be a tactical game! it's supposed to be competitive

anyone remember a q&a with some guy from valve saying they'll start to THINK about the next cs in like 5 years? what a hidden gem for cs players.

lol, your post was gonna be a tl;dr for me but after your response to my post i had to read it. i stopped here, laughed, and hit quote. it takes a lot of skill to use the awp well against even just 1-2 good rifle guys. for most people the awp is not a viable weapon choice because they can't use it. often times that goes for the deagle as well. i wouldn't want to **** around with a solid scouter, nor someone with the natural tendency to hit your head 9/10 times with the mp5. different styles for different guns for different scenarios. that's where cs shows diversity.

SORRY off topic. carry on

cs is balanced fine. It makes logical sense that you would go for a carbine like the m4 over an mp5. This trend is occuring in real life too. Small and compact plus more punch behind the round. mp5's are hardly used except by swat teams.

You obviously haven't played cs enough. Moving and shooting is possible in cs in close range combat. However for more distance shooting its impossible. That's pretty true to "real life" imo anyways. Besides cs is great because its mixes realism with unrealism. that balance makes it good. With out the arcade feel it wouldn't be nearly as good.
