Also, make sure they're hooked up to the Intel SATA ports, not the Marve controlled ones (look in your MoBo manual, it will tell you which ones are which).
I gave your suggestion a try while I try to find the right DVI cable to hook up to onboard video...

I had the cables in Marvel. Moved them. Reset CMOS. Now the error is A2 instead of A0.

According to the MoBo A2 refers to "detect IDE." Are you sure you have the SATA cables plugged into SATA ports and not IDE ports? Double check that they're in the SATA II Intel controlled ports. Also, if you're only using one hard drive/optical, try using a different SATA wire - maybe one of your wires is bad. At this point you should reseat the GPU because your mobo doesn't have integrated graphics...not sure what the other poster was talking about.

1. Reseat GPU.
2. Double check SATA wire connected to correct Intel SATA II ports.
3. Double check SATA connections and PSU connections to HDD and optical are secure.
3. Try different SATA wires.

Here is a pic showing where I have them hooked up. I've also tried both in the one all the white and both in the middle ones.

There's a similar thread on MMO-Champion from a couple of years back. Do you have another board you can test the CPU in? I guess if you've tried what everyone here has mentioned then the IDE device controller on your mobo might be faulty. If you have the spare parts, try a different CPU in the Mobo and/or the CPU in a different Mobo. Other than what you've already done, I can't think of anything else that would help.

Thanks for trying man.

I can hear the HD spinning, and the DVD drive works as well. So they're both powered, at least.

So frustrating, particularly because the errors keep changing.

No problem. That's really weird, I couldn't tell you what's happening. Sounds like everything is where it should be. At this point it might just be a faulty piece of hardware. If you have the patience and/or possibility to, it might be your safest bet to just exchange the CPU and Mobo. However, like I mentioned, you might want to wait for someone with more advanced knowledge to chime in before you take everything apart.

I really hope I don't have to exchange. Ugh. I'm staying up til I fix it or I collapse.

It's even more frustrating because I actually got to BIOS once.
