Help with 1090t Overclock in UEFI Bios

Thread Starter
Hello, been lurking for a while, but decided I'd better post as reading wasn't helping me as much as usual.

I have a brand new 1090t Black Edition and Asus Sabretooth 990FX board. I have a Coolermaster Hyper 212 cooler as well.

Every attempt for me to overclock has resulted in a crash after POST, or system resetting itself during Prime95.

I'm using CPUID Hardware Monitor and CoreTemp to monitor temps and voltages. I also have AMD Overdrive and ASUS AI Suite 2 at my disposal if needed.

Stock speed at idle in Windows 7 I run about 26c on every core. The CPU temp in CPUID-HM usually sits at 34-37 idle. This seems a bit high?

Anyways, maybe its just the UEFI bios, but I haven't been able to get anything stable. My goal is 4ghz. I've tried different combinations of Bus speed and multiplier, and incrementally raising Vcore. Still nothing. There are so many weird options in this Bios...has anyone got to overclock using this BIOS yet that could help me out?
Thanks

Well you have to be specific on your combinations.

If you aren't trying to OC anything else, I think its best to keep the bus speed at 200.

the reading of ur temps will never be correct unless u run few programs that will do the job...
atm im using coretemp, hw monitor and real temp, with adding of ai suite, to compare which is the most realistic temp... my lowest is 22c, and when is u doing anything on ur pc, small or big, temp will go up... my current one is 30c....

as for overclocking, u are new to it as i'm too, so be patient, look on google for overclocking in bios with uefi for begginers... and than step by step

Try

200*20 and up your voltage incrementally as needed.

Thanks for the replies guys,
I eventually would like to overclock RAM and NB. There are just so many options in the UEFI BIOS that I have never seen before. A bunch of VRM stuff in there...

What are the chances I can reach 4.0ghz just off of multiplier and Vcore?

I will see what I can get stable and come back in a bit. smile.gif
The CPU temp in the BIOS monitor reaches, 45-50 sometimes...I had heard this happens in the BIOS because the processor is under heavy load (60-100%). Is this true?

keep your bus speed at 200, and try to up your the multiplier on 20X. Vcore is 1.5V If BSOD or restart, keep the Vcore and down your multiplier on 19.5....do this repeatedly as 0.5X, untill your system can run stable.

Been running Prime95 for 30 mins so far with no crash

200 fsbx19.5 for 3913mHz. Best result so far. Temps I'm not so happy about

58-59, crept up to 60 one time so far. That's in both core temp and CPUID-HW.

Should I re-seat my heatsink? I would think in my case with decent airflow and a Hyper 12, I should get lower temps.

Are these temps ok? 60 seems a bit too high!

My 1090T will run 24/7 at 4GHz... but not a a bit higher... no matter what I do. I can suicide run it for CPU-Z fame, but it won't run all cores past 4GHz. One of my problems is dirt cheap Mobo that has 0.05 to 0.08 VDroop. Soon as I kick on Prime-95, the voltage caves and the CPU errors.

But, here is what it takes to do that... while under load (crunching 24/7) the voltage on CPU-z reads 1.488.

Hope this helps.

Oh, all my stuff water cooled... and DRAM is all Auto...
