GTX 295 SLI in 8x/8x

Thread Starter
I have to get a new graphics card for my system and I found a good deal on 2 295's. I was looking into them though and it seems that they perform alot worse on 8x/8x rather that 16x/16x or even 16x/8x. How bad will it be as my other option instead it a 6970. Would that be better. I only use my rig for gaming really. Also what ever I get will be run in my loop so thats why im getting new cards.

yea i know but the point is they aparently perform really badly on a 8x/8x board so if thats the case and the fps diff in gaming is minimalistic I would rather get the 6970 because also the 295's will mean i need a new psu where the 6970 I wont

Single 6970 sounds like the better option.

Two 295s will be grossly bottlenecked by a 1075t, while a single 6970 will only get choked out in cpu intensive games.

"There is a very small performance hit using a GTX 295 in a x8 bandwidth slot compared to x16 bandwidth, its not something you would notice in gaming but in Quad SLI it can cost a 1 or 2 thousand points in vantage Performance test if both are in slots running @ x8 bandwidth. " 1 card in 8x if fine but 2 well u can see
