TrifireX 1000w not enough power/amperage?

Thread Starter
I used to run with 2 power supplies but had to ditch the old 850W, so now I'm only using my Silent Pro M 1000W with 80A on the 12V rail and according to extreme outervision,s psu calculator I'm short of 75W and 2.5amp on the 12V rail and thats not even counting in the Graphics OC.

Should i get a new psu or do you guys think it will be alright?

Well a 6970 can pull up too about 300 watts,so it seems your psu will work, but it will be cutting it very close.

If this is for gaming and powertune @ 0%, 1000W is fine. If you have powertune @ 20%, you may want to get a 1100-1200W if you are going to run it full bore all the time.

Your PSU is more than enough, tri-fire uses ~ 850W of power, even heavily overclocked you wouldn't need a 1kw - I ran heavily overclocked 580's on a Corsair H1000 and it was more than enough

I agree, a good 850W can handle three 6970s pretty well. Your PSU can handle it fine as well.

COuld this be that your PSU is just tired? It may not be up to full potential anymore.
