Laptop to get me through Further and Higher education

What is your maximum budget?
£800

What country are you in?
UK/England

What will be the uses of this laptop?
I will be using it for general purpose browsing and studying with some gaming involved

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Nope

What screen size do you require?
Medium size, 14"-15"

What screen resolution do you require?
Doesn't bother me

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
Don't want used but would consider refurbished by manufacturer

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
Doesn't really bother me but 4 hours should be the min!

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
I play predominantly Football manager but have played FPS like L4D(2) and CSS in the past. No stupid ATI chips as they have denied me from playing KOTOR before!

What operating system do you need? (if any)
None needed as I already purchased W7

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
Gaming generally, I want the option to be there!

How much hard drive space do you need?
Not important seeming as how cheap and portable external is, preferable 120GB up though

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
An Ethernet port would be nice if my wireless failed me.

Is there anything else we need to know?
I have looked into PC Specialist and Kobalt and they are the best/cheapest for my current needs. Here are the quotes:

Only bump once ever 24 hours.
Also, what you found seems to suit your needs.
Not sure I could do any better.

Damn me being perfect!

If you need at least a couple hours of battery, try looking for a dual core Sandy Bridge. It gives around the same performance for things like web browsing and school work.

looks great. don't think you could do much better than that. Is there room for you to get a 9-cell though?

2 core sandy bridge or 9 cell wasn't on offer on either! I don't want 2 cores though as most games now take advantage of 4 and its way more future proof! 9 cell I really want though, and possibly a matte screen to, is this advisable?
