Hunting a SSD. Anything new upcoming?

Thread Starter
Yes, as written in the Title, I'm looking for a SSD for my gaming setup, and I've had a look at Corsair's Series â„¢ 3, 120GB
I have no use for it being larger & not smaller either.

But I'd rather like to avoid the possible fall tremendously in price within the next few months, due to be published new on the market. (Im aware this happens regularly, and I can easily wait a couple months for the release of "up-to-date discs")

I have no idea whether there are new SSD's in the horizon that would be a better idea to wait for, or if I should just attack the one mentioned above, when the new ones are published at a lower price.

So I would really like your point of view/knowledge regarding new releases or price drops within the next few months on the SSD market?
Anyways, do any of you have some recommendations on other disks with either better quality, less error etc. and why not one brand over the other?
Thank you in advance!
And continued good weekend out there!

no you're good to go. and if they do the price isn't gonna fluctuate that dramatically. 10-20 dollars at the most.

Aaah, well that's a comfort to know at-least
I presume Corsair is not a bad choice, since they fixed that issue on their disk after they recalled a whole bunch of SSD's?

Samsung is releaseding their sata III ssds, PM830, but atm is only starting to go with OEM so might take some time to hit retail, probably before years end.

Samsung Announces High-performance 512GB SSDs with Ultra-fast SATA Revision 3.0 Interface

Intel also has the 520 series schedule before years end, no one knows really how they will be.

The thing about waiting for new tech is that its not always the best idea to wait for brand new products because they're usually full of kinks and issues that sometimes take a few months to work out. Take for example OCZ's vertex 3 new sandforce tech. It was release in April which was a few months ago but it still has issues. Besides, newer tech hasn't proven to be that much better (notice how first Gen SSD drives are still being recommended over mechanical drives).

If you want to wait, the best time to buy an SSD is when you find a reliable one that drops to ~$1/gig. With newer Gen anywhere from $1-1.5 is a good deal. If you really want to wait then wait until black Friday when SSDs usually see their lowest prices.

People have been saying that theyre going to wait for SSD prices to drop for ages. They stayed relatively consistent in my opinion.
