Hello folks!

First of all, hello to all you tech heads

I just build a new machine and I wanted to share my settings, maybe s/o else finds them helpful in one way or the other...
so here goes:

MoBo: Asus P6X58D-E[/TD]
driver: chipset: 9.2.0.1030
IRST: 10.6.0.1022
CPU:i7 950 @ 4.1 GHz
RAM:corsair Dominator@1650MHz
SSDs:6xVertex2 60GB Firmware 1.33
graphics card: ATI FirePro V5900 driver: 8.83.5.4
Stripe Size: 64k

Did a 12hrs LinX test and finished w/o errors.
Also did a 1 hr LinX test with furmark running simultaneously. Turned out fine, too.
Temps: they run a little high, but since Im not going to fold/render/encode 24/7 im not too concerned. Average temps of 12hrs test are in red.

SSD madness: 6x OCZ Vertex2. Copies a 4 gig file to a RAM-Drive in 5 seconds hands down, from RAM-drive to desktop 'bout 9.

So what do you guys think?
I like it a lot: Working has never been that much fun. Adobe suite is fast as hell, programs open quickly, RAR packing is faaaast... Just awesome!

Damn nice rig.... Can't you flip the ssd's so the sata cables aren't flying everywhere?

Nice performance on the array, especially with regard to the random writes. You do seem to be limited sequentially by the ICH10R though.

However, I'd be very concerned about that PCI-E clock. 110MHz is usually were stability really starts to break down for SATA devices and the like. Also, some of your voltages look unnecessarily high.

If you moved to an odd number CPU multiplier you may be able to reduce the PCI-E clock and lower some voltages while remaining stable at the same final clock speeds.

Yes, it is big time! Thats way Im thinking abiut an LSI already hehe. But honestly: Real world performance is already off the hook, so I dunno if its necessary at all...

You know, I did this because it totally affects my RAID performance. I had it up to 115, and it was stable, so I turned it down to 110 for safety resaons. I will just hope for the best. ICH / IOH voltages are little higher, too, cause 6 SSDs demand their power

Thanks for your replies...

Not surprising because the DMI connection between X58 and ICH10R as well as the SATA clocks themselves are directly related to PCI-E clock.

I'd still be worried about long term data integrity at that speed. You don't want silent corruption occurring without your knowledge, or a drive dying out of the blue in a few weeks/months.
