Need help deciding about new system

Thread Starter
Ok so I'm going to be adding some new speakers and receiver to my pc soon. I have a general idea of what i want, But i really have no clue on what i should get. My first thought was to get a ONKYO TX-SR309 with Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II ,Polk Audio CS1 Series II. But i was wondering if this might be a better value http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo Or if anyone has any other suggestions about something else, I'm completely open to them. My Budget here is (In US dollars) 600-625 But really If i can get 300-400 i would be happy. In other words Help !

The Japanese make a lot of great things... speakers not being one of them IMO.

Go with the Polk... personally, I have a Bose 5.1 system and have never looked back.

You will be happier with the Polk setup you recommended. If you only need a good 2.0/2.1 system you can get some really good powered speakers and a audio card for your pc. ie, Audioengine A5's and a Asus Xonar sound card.

These speakers (and many others) would like to have a word with you:

Anyway the polks will be more capable than that onkyo HTIB set, but for the budget you've got either would be adequate imo.

If you don't need surround I would recommend going with a higher quality two channel system and adding a sub later though.

Haha.

Back on topic : The polks will sound better compared to the Onkyo's. Get a good 2.0 setup and upgrade to 2.1 later (just add a sub) so you can get some more bass.
