Trouble installing Origin Games

Thread Starter
I picked up a couple games from Origin last week when they had a bunch for 5 bucks (BFBC2 and C&C: Tiberian Twilight). I have had a mother of a time getting games installed, and it seems to be simply because I want them installed onto a second hard drive (my RAID) and not my C:.

I finally got BFBC2 installed after re-installing Origin itself about 4 times, but C&C won't install. Every time I re-download, it gets to where it says "ready to install", I click that.....and nothing. It will say "installing" for a second, then go back to "ready to install".

I've tried it with and with firewall/AV to no avail. Any suggestions?

You are now ready to chat with Desiree.

you: Hi. I am having trouble installing a game.

Desiree: Thank you for contacting Origin Help. My name is Desiree. How may I assist you today?

Desiree: which game

you: command and conquer: tiberian twilight

you: when I click "ready to install", it says "installing" for a second, then goes back to "ready to install".

Desiree: well let do a dxdiag

you: I have the game files set to install on a second hard drive, but I just installed BFBC2 in the same fashion, to the same directory, with no problem

Desiree: lets*
Desiree:

you: I have re-installed Origin numerous times

Desiree: well you might to unistall one and then reinstall

you: like I said, I JUST installed BFBC2 with no issue

Desiree: yes but I will need you to a dxdiag so I can what your computer is supporting and what it can support please

you: (dx diag info)

you: Is that all the information you needed?

Desiree: well not all but thats fine I will just read through all it so may I a minute please

Desiree: have a

you: ok

Desiree: well I was looking up your minimum requirements for bfbc2 and your video card is not supported

Desiree: it is under minimum requirments

you: I have no problem playing BFBC2......my problem is INSTALLIN command and conquer.....

you: a 5770 is plenty sufficient to play BFBC2

Desiree: correct but since you downloaded the bfbc2 and its not supported your computer is not allowing comand and conquer load because it is protecting its self from being damaged more than it is now

you: umm, no

Desiree: because it is running at high performance just to try and run the game

Desiree: umm yes

you: It would not let me INSTALL command and conquer before I even RAN BFBC2

you: I still cannot INSTALL command and conquer

Who hires these people?????

Chat associate is fail. I had no trouble running either of them. Origin is new, there's bound to be some bugs. But from what I've found, it won't let me install ANY game unless it's located on the same HDD as Origin, even if the path is moved.

That's just it: it IS. Plus, like I told the CS rep, BFBC2 installed no problem right before I tried installing C&C, using the same location and set-up.

Wait a minute, I take that back. I initially had ALL files going to my secondary. But this recent re-install, I installed Origin to my SSD and just directed my games to be installed to my D:.

Great. This thread is 6th down in a google search for "origin game won't install".....

I HAVE noticed Crysis 2 being kicked out of game, I don't know if Origin is to blame, but I've never once had a problem with Steam/D2D running a game. Have you thought of just installing Origin to your D drive along with your games? Or are you trying to keep all of your programs on the SSD?

I can go in to the "Origin Games" folder and launch the game from there, but it still won't install through Origin.......I had to manually input my product code, but a second launch of the game only necessitated input of my password.

One thing I did notice after exiting the game the first time is that it said Windows firewall was blocking it. I allowed it for all, then tried to install through Origin, but to no avail.

Ahh well, such is life. At least I found a way to play!

I had initially done this, but it caused problems with BFBC2 as well. I would love to keep all my game folders (yes Origin, all of them) on my RAID array, but Origin doesn't like to be told to stay off my C: drive. Even if you install EVERYTHING to D:, it will still install some stuff to C:.......
