Waterblocks

Thread Starter
Just starting out with water cooling. I just converted my video cards over to water about a month ago. Went with a pretty simple all Koolance setup. Works pretty good as is, but not I'd like to do another loop for the CPU. Also looking to move to a M8 cube case. Lots of room for more water cooling. Anyone recommend a brand of waterblock. I do like the Koolance 370, but I'm open to recommendations.

I'm using an EK Supreme HF that is working really well for me. EK was having problems with their nickle blocks but I think they have fixed that. And the other non nickle blocks have not had any problems.

Not true. Their non-nickel blocks have had other quality control issues.

Koolance CPU-370 is the best waterblock IMO, one of the lowest restriction blocks, and best performing. Great budget block is an XSPC rasa, with average restriction and pretty good thermal performance.

The block in the first link had nothing wrong with it actually. A lot of blocks have the same machining. The second link was for an iffy gold plated EK block from Performance PCs, which alone, IMO, was a bit shady, knowing it was on sale for such a cheap price. Only the nickel erosion on the CPU block have been conformed as an issue.

Nothing wrong with the 1st link? Look at the scratches to the base. If that's nothing wrong, then maybe you work at EK's QC station?

Really? Did you ever read the original thread and find out the OP posted the same pics in another forum and was told the burr was normal and that the base scratch was negligible to performance? Mount it one time and see what the base looks like. It gets like that everytime you mount and dismount it and will gain more nicks the more you remove and install it. Also, EK replaced his block anyway.

http://www.overclock.net/14226653-post42.html

As for RedRaider forums, I don't need to read it, since I'm a member there and was a contributor to fund the copper and nickel testing done. Do you know what the results were and the conclusion we came up with, because the thickness of the nickel plating exceeded EKs claimed spec and the copper was shown to be the quality EK said it was made of. Ever wonder why Eddy switched the Nickel plating process? If you know what was discussed over on RRTech, you would know why.

You like Koolance, but RRTech doesn't agree with that companies products either and there's threads on their garbage screw ups too, yet you post RRtech threads on EK products.

I prefer high flow rate waterblocks and always buy DangerDen's stuff. I have had two cpu blocks and 3 gpu bocks. Superb performers and, in my opinion, the cpu blocks look great when installed. The clear mount disappears and all you see is that beautiful copper. Also, the clear top makes it easy to see if any bubbles got trapped.
They also provide terrific, FAST, support.

I had looked at doing EK for everything before I went with the Koolance stuff. But after reading about their nickel issues I wasn't willing to risk it. Especially since this is my first time trying water cooling.
