Problem with GTX470

Hello
I have a problem with my gtx470.
I put this card on 2 pc and same problem appeared. The problem is that when windows loads pcie is @ x16 then screens goes black and drops to x8 then later drops again to x4 and sometimes to x1 causing a massive loss of performance.

cpu: core 2 duo e7400 2.8ghz
mobo: GB G31M-ES2L
gpu: GB GTX470

The same problem happened on 2 Mobos of LGA 775.
PCI lanes dropping over time.

Any ideas?

This may be normal actually, as Windows 7 (maybe Vista too I dunno) has a power saving feature that drops the speed of the PCI-Ex lanes when not in use for something like gaming.

Try firing up a bench (furmark or heaven will work) in windowed mode, and then checking GPU-Z while it's running. The slot speed should jump back up to full speed when something is running that uses the card. If it stays low, then you have a problem, so post back and let us know.

If you say about a option under control panel its disabled.
I tried windowed games and benches but the problems remains
Sometimes it stays @16 all the day and the next one decides to fall to x8 or x4. Before it switches to fewer lanes screen goes black for 1 sec.
And sometimes freezes during bios and some wierd color fadings appears on the top of the screen. The more the pci lanes drops the less scores in benches gives and more lags appears.

Are you using the same drivers on both PCs ? Try using a different driver.
