Help PC Starting Up 3 Times? i7 990x Installed? Memory Problem?

Please read below I no It’s long I really need the help and will really appreciate it. I will try to explain this as much as I can.

Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E
Updated my motherboard’s bios while my old cpu was installed i7 950 to the latest version. Reason for this is bought a brand new cpu i7 990x and my current motherboard version didn’t support it. Anyways everything went fine no problems then installed my i7 990x here is where the problem starts my PC powered up twice and shut down after few seconds only on the 3rd try it went into windows and did this every time I started my PC up. Also I sometimes got a message saying “overclocking failed” I haven’t even yet Overclocked the cpu. I also noticed in bios in “System Information” my memory is showing at 4088MB even though I have 6GB memory this also shows in windows as well and by the way I have windows 7 64 bit. So I thought this problem with turning on twice and shutting down must be something to do with the memory even though I didn’t touch the memory rams when I installed the i7 990x can some thing still happen to the memory even without touching it? Ok anyways I found out that there is a problem with the memory not sure if it’s the memory slot or the ram itself. What is happening is I have 3x 2GB memory rams installed in 3 “Blue” memory slots I also have 3 black memory slots tried them also PC comes on but no picture comes anyways back to the blue memory slots it appears when there is no memory ram in one of the middle blue memory slots 2nd one the PC starts up fine and doesn’t shut down? But am not sure because when there’s memory ram in blue slot 1 and 3 it shows 4GB in bios still but as soon as I remove a memory ram from 1st or 3rd slot and put the memory ram that I took out from the middle 2nd slot it shows 2GB memory so am thinking might be a problem with the ram itself and not the 2nd memory slot. Please if anyone knows anything on how to solve this I would really appreciate it am even thinking of reinstalling windows ?

Sounds like a bad DIMM slot, not bad memory.

Try each stick individually, one at a time, in slot 1, and try to boot up. Try this with all 3 sticks of memory.

If all 3 will boot up, in slot 1 then you know that your middle slot is bad.

Sounds like you might have bent a 1366 socket pin swapping CPUs

But when there's no memory ram in the 2nd blue memory slot the PC starts up fine and doesn't shut down? So this can't be cus of the CPU having a bent pin can it ?

Yes, it can!
Test each stick in your first slot to check your memory.

Quick question, are there pins that can be bent on the CPU itself ??

No, the pins are in the socket, not the CPU.
