Few questions about Bottleneck. - Page 2

Ok, thanks.

Now this is the last question I promise. As cusideabelincoln said it depends on the resolution, but as I mentioned in the first post I dont get when I get better performance when there is bottleneck - at high resolution or at low? I usualy play at 1280x1024 when I can.

Thanks.

Lower resolutions (as in 800x600 or 1024x768) is usually when the bottlenecks are visible, however at the low resolutions you are likely getting so high FPS anyway that it doesn't matter at all.

Aaa.. now I get it, so if you have 50 fps at 1280x1024 and then you switch to 800x600 and you still have 50-55fps there is bottleneck?

Yes, that is when you know you're CPU is bottlenecking.

But so long as you're getting a smooth gameplay experience it's not worth worrying about. And in BFBC2 you should be able to get a smoother experience by overclocking your processor.

I'm guessing you're also on a CRT and can use 1600x1200. If, using your example, you're stuck at 55 fps at 800x600 and 1280x1024, then bump up to 1600x1200 and you will probably also get 55 fps. If your fps drops significantly when going up to 1600x1200 then you know your video card is becoming the bottleneck.

Yes im on 17" CRT, but I find GPU, CPU more importnant than buying monitor now. I hope BF3 is better optimized than BC2 and not that CPU hungry. :/

i play perfectly fine on my mini itx gaming pc

asus m4a88t-i deluxe mini itx
athlon ii x2 250 3 ghz
asus hd6850 1gb ddr5
8gb ddr3 1333mhz sodimm
60gb ocz vertex 2 ssd
1tb wd my passport usb 3.0

resolution 1920 x 1080p
all settings high
8x msaa
16x af
vsync on
hbao on

i can tell you this, i had a phenom ii x4 965 be c3 running on it, it gave me around avg 50fps

now i run an athlon ii x2 250 and that cpu gives me avg 40 fps

so depending on what you call 'bottleneck', i don't really think you'll run in to trouble..

and yes bc2 is a cpu intensive game and utilizes 4 cores, but runs pretty awesome on 2 cores as well !
