[GROUP BUY] Would You Want A Wooden Key (Cherry MX)?

Thread Starter
UPDATE 1 (Click to show)
This group buy is meant for individual keys not a whole keyboard!
And, yes, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, as on eBay you can't purchase individual keys OR choose the wood!

Hey there OCN!
I've been collabing with a few great people on Geekhack the keyboard forum and we wanted to include my OCN peeps.
So we're arranging a group buy for wooden keycaps for Cherry MX switches.

Read through this post for details... or cutting to the chase:
Post if you think you'd be interested in a wooden keycap (or keycaps) for your Cherry MX keyboard. Really unique and one of a kind! Once in a lifetime chance to get them!

FAQ

What's a group buy?
A group buy is asking a company to make an item with lots of demand that purchased in bulk quantities to make the price more reasonable. They're done frequently on keyboard forums such as Geekhack and Deskthority. Now they will hopefully spread to OCN.
How long do group buys take?
Normally group buys take 2 months from order to arrival at your doorstep, but this thread is just an interest gauge for now. The group buy won't be up for another ~1-2 months.
How do group buys work?
Group buys tend to work in this order:
1) Interest gauge
2) End user order placement
3) Person in charge of the group buy aggregates orders
4) Person in charge places order with company
5) Orders arrive to person in charge
6) Person in charge ships them out individually

INFO ON GROUP BUY
This group buy will be handled and managed by the wonderful input nirvana (Geekhack / OCN). This thread will be updated with info as the group buy progresses.

We aren't exactly sure how this will be done, maybe WASD Keyboards will engrave the caps, or maybe the company that makes the caps will. No clear info as of now.

Pricing will be $7-18 depending on the wood per key (subject to change, nothing's set in stone). There's cherry and teak and maple and many more... it seems the darker keys are more popular though.

Any questions should be sent to input nirvana. I've linked to his profile above.

WHAT AM I BUYING? PICS?
Wooden keycaps. The fourth picture is what you will get (~), the first three are of the company's other works.

WHAT'S THE POINT OF THIS THREAD?
This thread will be how we convey the news about this group buy to you. Pricing and shipping costs will be posted here too, but more details will be in the Geekhack thread.

Right now though, post in this thread letting us know if you're interested in this group buy as it is really a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Thanks!

Not bad looking at all.
Though I'm not sure how this will appeal to everyone.
A lot of work must go into making these bad boys.

So if its $7-$16 per key, an entire keyboard would be like $700 min ?

Gorgeous keyboard but even at 8$ a key it comes to $832 (for 104 keys)

If the price was lower it might be a possibility

While I certainly couldn't afford them, I have to say those look amazing in my opinion.

Id rather stick a wire into a oak tree then stick it into a USB port on my PC.

Interesting but the price is far too high for me to be interested, though a full set of cherry keys would look nice.
I would be in for a blank set at around $150. Not even slightly interested at $700.

Edit: Entire wooden mechanical keyboards are on ebay for $999. Not really a "once in a lifetime chance"
