HDPVR Software problems...

Thread Starter
Im trying to get my hauppauge HDPVR to take live tv from my cable box to my computer so that i can record tv and watch it later on. I already found a program to do it but im really starting to get pissed off. Im using Media Portal. This requires MySql. So dummy me forgot to set it up before trying to get tv onto my computer. Then i try and bam it say MySql is already a running service. I went to registry editor and deleted MySql and restarted. I uninstalled everything and now when i try to install mediaportal i get errors even after uninstalling. I really need to get this to work. Is there any way i can remove all the files from mediaportal and Mysql without having to format? I know i can get it working but i just need all the files to be wiped off my computer without formatting. Ive already tried CC cleaner.
any suggestions?

Have you tried media player that's built into windows? It does an awesome job when you tell it channel and time. I'm assuming you're cable box is coming into your computer via the cable line?

nope. Its going from RGB cables from the back (HD Cable Box) to the HDPVR IN and out Via USB. media portal is the only program that will work perfectly for me.

I see it's coming in USB. I'm not sure if Media Center will detect it as a recordable source or not, but it might be worth it.
