Livestreaming in HD?

Thread Starter
I'd like to know what are the main reqs for livestreaming in high definition (or at least hq)? Is the speed of my internet connection more important than my system? I think that 4cores @ 3.8GHz would perform well in livestreaming in HD, but my connection speeds are slow: 10mbps download speed 1mbps upload speed. Would that be enough? I guess the game I am playing does matter, too.. I tried to play BFBC 2 and broadcast, but I had to decrease the settings of the game and decrease the quality of my stream.. I used livestream.com , I tried own3d, too but it didn't work.

Will I have problems streaming in HQ,HD with my current rig and network? At least low-demanding games, not stuff like Crysis..

Your upload speed has a lot to do with it, less than 1Mb/s upload I doubt you will be able too. I pay 2x as much for less, so I wouldn't complain.

QFT, but if you do try in the future with better internet i suggest Xsplit and either justin.tv or own3d
to put it in perspective i can stream at 1920x1200 with a 4mbs upload.

With those upload speeds, you might as well record your gameplay and commentary (if you include it) and upload it on YouTube. It's what I will have to do when I run through Crysis 2, because my max upload is only ~300Kbps. Uploading an encoded 1080p video is worlds easier then trying to stream.

I pay $42 a month for that "slow" internet you're referring to. Consider your internet a privilege.

On topic: Your computer is fine for streaming at any resolution. I stream at 960x600 @ 25 fps. Smooth most of the time, with a few hints of lag.
