Agreed, prices drop fast as new tech comes out. Wait at least untill theres more info on the game. That Athlon II linked above might be good enough, or it might not. If you wait, you will be sure what you buy is good for the game, and will most likely be cheaper to boot. If you buy now, its a gamble, and a high risk one as its more expensive to buy now, and if it ends up not being good enough your budget for the game just doubled.

I really don't like the idea of upgrading before a game is out, especially with new parts being a few months away.

Generally I don't like to upgrade until a couple months after release of a newer technology, ie bulldozer, the reason for the poor timing is his birthday is at the end of the month, I might just try to figure something out and ditch the idea. Hopefully the prices drop a little with the new releases
