Is it my PSU? - help needed

Hey guys need a little bit of advice and help here.

I'm running a rather old comp, intel duo core, with a evga geforce video card. Recently I ran out of HD space, and bought a new 500GB HD and put it in.. at first there was no problems... but after a few days... my computer will just shut off and restart own its own randomly... but other times it would be fine. So I don't really know what could be causing this, the only thing I do know is that prior to the new HD install this never happened. I'm wondering if it could be my PSU.... it is a 500W Antec.

So I'm wondering, since this problem only occurred after the installation of the new HD, could it be that my power supply isn't enough for 2 HD's and the GPU?

My system is not overclocked at all.

Thanks in advance.

It would be massively helpful if you could fill out your computer specs in your User CP on this site. Then we could help you with what's going on.

On topic, it sounds like you're Hard Drive is having issues. Hard Drives pull basically no power, so I can't really see just one additional hard drive maxxing your PSU....

Again, i won't know until you post your system specs, though.

Could overheating cause the computer to shut off randomly? It's very hot in my house and I don't run AC.... could the new HD added heat cause this.. if you don't think it's power related?
