Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to move so how my house is set up is going to change. I have my sig rig in my "man cave" but thats on the other side of the house, What i need to do is connect my desktop to the tv in the living room (for xbmc.) What is the best way to do this, I have a wireless router, 15mps internet, networked bluray player, xbox 360 slim (if anyone needed to know what i have available to me) . I just need to know the cheapest and best quality solution.

THANKS GUYS!!

what you need to do for long distance runs is carry the signal over rj 45.

for HDMI you need something like this:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...=2#description

if you want to use your usb mouse or keyboard, you need one of these also:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...t=1#largeimage

^-- that usb one i linked there is rated for 150 ft. if you need more, then get a better high quality one.

In my experience. it works better with cat 6 cable. and if im running it outside or or around electrical stuff, i usually get shielded cat 6 cable.

well you don't necessarily have to cut through walls. Just because it's a wallplate doesn't mean you have to put it IN the wall. You could do some nice cable management...

Are you trying to do this via wireless?

a while ago the best HDMI wireless tx/rx system i think was:
But that's ridiculously expensive.

A more reasonable one would be:
but still expensive at around, $300 ish.

i think a cheap and reasonable performer would be the:
But i think that only supports up to 720p, and wireless range isn't the greatest at around ~30 ft

Wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver kits can be had for around 200-300 dollars. Depending on the distance you need to go, this might be your best option.

Just run the Rj45 along the baseboards to where ever you need. I recommend cat 6 cabling, plenum grade isnt needed. Anyways there's nothing a bit of putty wont cover up
post #10 of 12
These go for 250ish on-line, do 1080p and have a respectable range: http://www.siig.com/full-hd-1080p-hd...eiver-kit.html

Not entirely sure of the image quality though.

A wired connection would be cheaper and would probably look a bit better, if you can find a way to run the cable.
