Thread Starter
I only get one channel which is abc I bought some high end antanna. They seem high end anyway with 60 bucks price tag. Anyway I am not getting cable because my siblings will get attached to the tv and well I don't want to get into that. Just need my local channels so I can watch San Diego chargers games. So anyone has any tricks or anything they can share?

Check this site out.
It'll show you what kind of channels you can get around your area.
Not to mention, 60$? You could get away with a much cheaper antenna.

Problem is I live like 30 miles away from the broadcast towers. So from what its look like I need to mount something outside? I wanted to avoid that, I guess I can't.

Yeah, that might be the case. The farther away, the less likely you'll be able to just get away with a a small indoor antenna.

You can walk/drive around your neighbourhood and see if there are others setting roof top antenna for TV. If you see quite a number, then the chance for good indoor reception is slim.

Actually, if your goal is to prevent your siblings from watching unwanted channels of cable TV, then you can still go ahead and subscribe cable TV but you can do two precautions:-

a) You manually delete those channels and only save channels you want. So, your siblings can only find limited channels when they use the Up/Down button of the Remote Control.

b) If they are smart enough to re-scan and re-capture all the channels, then you can setup a PIN under Child Lock/Parental Control function of your TV. Without a password, they cannot do anything.

Check out where the transmitters are on google earth, if you've got a lot of hills between, you might need some more extreme equipment, but if its easy line of sight, 15 miles isn't far to receive.
