NH-D14 High temps?? - Page 2

you can overclock it to 4.5GHz below 1.4v and 4.5Ghz is enough frequency for all your needs

True, but this is after all, Overclock.net with that being said if you are not comfortable with pushing your chip, then yeah no one is forcing ya. But if you have a goal in mind go for it, you will be supported 100% !

and @ sintricate, not everyone was lucky enough to get a chip as boss as the one you posess Intel i7-2600k 4.8GHz @ 1.36v nice!!! But still that does not mean a little extra voltage should keep others from higher clocks when they are perfectly safe.

Cheers for your support sockpirate and mikevall.

Yeah i have looked at the SANDY 24/7 post in the INTEL CPU section and the highest Vcore listed there for a 5ghz stable OC is 1.488V... temps are mid 80's. Thats why i thought my 4.9 @ 1.45V seemed ok. Just thought 88-92c seemed high under 100% load.

May i may try to dial back Vcore and go to 4.9 again.

So far 4.8ghz @ 1.39V pime been running for 1 hour now no issues. Max temps now 67-76-73-73. Looks "golden" to me......ouch!!

I agree that mid 80,s is ok, pushing 90,s should be avoided for 24/7( imo) and you will shut down around 95c . I thought your other post said 92c , i would avoid running that hot imo.

the goal is to run as cool , and as fast , as you can!!
Hey those new temps look real good. IMO

I have been running 1.435 on my 4.8ghz OC since January....and there is no signs of degredation on my chip.

I even run a whopping 1.535v for my 5ghz OC and same thing, ok now if the OP was running 1.4v for a 4.0 oc then yeah , but even then he would be fine for months to come......I have run prime for hundreds of hours on many different overclocks and yup, you guessed it no sign of degredation....

OP your temps are fine and your voltages for 4.9ghz are also decent. Please take anyone telling you that your voltage is not safe with a grain of salt.
Ok firstly no need to be condescending, because contrary to how you run your chip, it is the general belief of anyone who knows anything about CPUs that more than 1.4v is a lot of voltage for 24/7 use on a 32nm chip.

There are quite a few OCN members who have in fact experienced degradation due high voltages, here is an example of a user who posted just today: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...r-1-month.html

The high volts you are recommending may be ok for short term benching use, but for 24/7 it's really not recommended and anyone who endorses 1.535v should realise that the max safe volts recommended by Intel is 1.52v (and that figure is most probably not including any LLC, so under load it is significantly less).

To OP: 4.8GHz @ 1.39v is great for 24/7, no need to pump another .07v through the chip for just 100MHz.
