Can bad ram cause...

Thread Starter
So I'm pretty sure my ram is failing, even before i test it because i have 4gb or ram in my computer and i've had those sticks for about 2 years, and about a month or so ago my computer started going semi-slower than usual and when i check my computer specs it says i only have 2.93gb of ram. And then today i restarted my computer and it booted up like normal except my monitor kept saying "No Signal". After a while i tried switching the monitor hook up off the graphics card and back to the integrated port, and it worked. So what i'm asking is, can bad ram make my video card stop working? Or do i have bad ram AND a failing video card?

(BTW, while the computer is on the video card fan and everything still works. and i know for sure all my connections are secure and i don't have any bent pins.)

Sounds like a bad card. If its an integrated card it would be borrowing space on your RAM.

Failed Video card. If the ram is bad then the on-board video will not work too.

I just ran memtest86 and it tested all 4gb of ram and said there was 0 errors. Why does it only show 2.93gb of ram in my computer? It showed this even before i switched back the integrated. The card i was using before was an 8600 gt. non-integrated.

(EDIT: updated my system specs below.)

I dont know about the errors you get, but you need a 64-Bit operative system to use the 4Gb's of RAM you have.just a reminder
