ASUS VW/H series vs Dell U2311H for gaming

Thread Starter
So, after having done some research, and searching on the OCN forums, the general consensus seems to be that the Dell U2311H and ASUS VW/H series are the best monitors for gaming now.

This next monitor is due to replace my circa 2005 HP F1905 monitor on my second gaming PC. The HP has proven itself to been a very dependable and robust monitor over the last 6 or so years, not suffering one hitch, but seeing as the 4:3 19 inch HP is starting to feel claustrophobic compared to the much larger 24 inch widescreen on the ASUS, I figured I'd need an upgrade.

So, down to business, I have a VW246H ASUS myself, and I love it, used it for two years, haven't noticed any ghosting or other image quality issues, it's got vibrant colors, (with the only problem being a weird black band that seems to be some internal component blocking the pixels in the bottom right corner, as you can see behind the bar if you move your head, but in terms of actual image quality, the ASUS is flawless from my POV). Now, I've heard many people saying the Dell trounces even the VW246H in nearly every department other than price, is this true?

Break down the differences between both monitors and let me know which you think is the best!

U2311h is much better as image quality and colors, and it's only little less slower than averange 2ms monitors.

This is a comparation useless : an old cheap TN series by asus VS the best 23" IPS in the market ?

This. There will most likely be a bit more ghosting, but the colors and viewing angles will be much much better than your asus.

The u2311h is leagues better than the hp w2007v and would be a good upgrade.

What about ghosting? Anyone with hands on-experience with a U2311H want to comment on the relatively slow listed response time of 8ms? I've heard conflicting opinions, some people saying they don't notice ghosting, others saying the ghosting is very noticeable.

Compared to the asus VH series, the ghosting is a bit worse, but it's nowhere near "bad". The u2311h is one of the fastest IPS panels on the market, and great for gaming because it doesn't have "bad ghosting". Though, neither do most other modern IPS either

So will it be a nagging problem, like when playing a game I'll always notice slight ghosting, that will probably drive me mad.
