Adding the 3rd monitor to my 6950

Thread Starter
Future shop has my 25 inch HP monitors on sale again and since I already have two I figured I pretty much have to buy a third

So to plug in the third I need a mini display port adapter I believe. Do you see anything on Future Shop that would work? Id like to get it there because I'm going in to pick it up and don't want to wait on shipping for an adapter from Newegg or some other website.

EDIT:
Found this one to
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...6b2d6da706en02

EDITEDIT: So I figured out that for eyefinity you need an "active" mini dp to whatever connector, but how do you tell an active one from a non active one? Also heard that mini dp to vga are all active so this should work?

I am not sure if the Moshi adapter would work. My guess is that it will not as it is not listed as 'Active' in the product description. If it has such a feature, I think it must be mentioned.

I think the best bet is to choose one from the AMD's official approved list:-
http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/...y-dongles.aspx

Does your HP monitor has a DVI input? I would suggest using DVI instead of VGA for the higher image quality of DVI.

If yes, under Mini DisplayPort To: DVI-D Single Link Active, it lists Accell B087B-006B.

It is here:- http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...bd5965f878en02

Then, of course, you will need to use a DVI cable to connect to your monitor.

Basically DP -> VGA has to be active, but that does not guarantee an issue free adapter.

Check if the store has any in this list that fit the connections of your GPU -> Monitor http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/...y-dongles.aspx

If you don't have any from that list, basically any DP -> VGA adapter should technically work, but I've heard a lot of reports of them "half" working. Such as not being able to wake up after the computer goes to sleep for a while and is woken up. And numerous other issues.

EDIT: I can't believe it! Ninjad after 45 minutes!
