I would buy one ASAP but I don't think an AX850 would be able to effectively power an overclocked i7 2600k, two overclocked GTX 570's, a GTX 460 for PhysX and this TEC.

EDIT: Maybe I'll have to buy an AX1200.

Comes to 935W, but I doubt you'll see TDP on anything but the 570s while gaming. My OC and unlocked 6950 (900MHz core) isn't restrained by TDP @ 0% powertune while folding 24/7.

I'd be surprised if you pulled more than 700W from the supply while gaming with that setup (840-855W from the wall).

Assuming you do go with the AX1200, it'd be interesting to see kill-a-watt numbers on it.

I'm still not sure whether to go with a TEC, but it certainly would be interesting. I'll probably start off with water cooling first as I've never water cooled before.

just found this thread im planing on upgrading next year and i will need a new waterblock
im not sure what socket im going for yet was originally going to go bulldozer but we all now how that turned out
so i want to now is this made to order with watever socket you like or is it just for sandybrige or is thiere more socket types coming out
also what size power supply is needed
currently im using a 120x360 rad a lang 355pump 1/2 inch tubing and a cheap japanese res that i plan on changin for a single bay model is that a nought or do i need to upgrade
also im in uk do you have a supplyer in uk or do i contact you in the states if so whates the contact address

Can you reach 5.5ghz and above with this on 1.55vcore and more like in ss phase changers? Assuming cpus are either 2500k 2600k and 2700k. A more detailed question is will this perform on par as phase change or do you actually need to hit below 0c to hit 5.5ghz plus clock speeds?

I've always wanted to hit 5.5GHz on a 2600k. I'm afraid of frying the processor though.

Apparently it's around +220W at 1.55V @ 5.5GHz, so that would be a no. The Qmax of the single TEC is only 180W at best. A dual TEC probably could do it, but it would have to probably be run beyond 12V which isn't the goal for this Block.

i think you can purchase a 24v version of his controller. will that double 180w to 360w? im not sure forgot about currents and whatnot back in hs. but if i can't hit extreme 24/7 clocks with this i think it would be better to stick to watercooling or just go phase change and fix the condensation problem....

Oh it can be done but this conversation usually leads to more bickering than anything else lol. If you wanted to use TECS for benching you can but forget about a controller and just insulate. Once you get the temps down to where you'll need them you'll need to insulate anyway. It is really not that big a deal TBH. Read these:
