GPU upgrade or CPU upgrade

Thread Starter
iv'e saved money for a new GPU when i still had the sapphire hd4870x2, my original plan was to get an hd7xxx card when it comes out, but then my 4870x2 died, and warranty sent me back a new gtx480 in the box as a replacement for the card that died.

i still want to spend that money on an upgrade, but now the question is:
iv'e saved roughly 2k~ NIS, which is enough to get either a gtx580 (or lets say the hd7970 when it comes out) or a 2500k with a p67 mobo and 8 gigs of ram.

what should i get then, wait for the hd7970 to come out and get it + OC my current q9450 to 3.7ghz (where i get walled) OR get the 2500k\\bulldozer when it comes out?

I'd go for the 2500k, reason being, you've got a powerful card already.

THe 480 and 580 are not that different. You'd feel a bigger improvement going to an i5 2500k+P67 and take that to at least 4.5 GHz

Agreed with previous posters, you should def go for the 2500k+mobo and ram. If you go for the 580/7970 you'll regret it, since there'll be a better card out in no time anyway (waaaaste ), while the other option will last you a lot longer. Plus as someone else said you already got a pretty decent gfx card (i.e waaaaste).

GL w/ w/e you choose though.
